Michelle Obama
First lady of American fashion: Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama joins Vogue's front cover elite

Michelle Obama has become the first lady of American fashion, appearing on the cover of the March issue of Vogue.

Mrs Obama becomes only the second US president's wife to grace the magazine cover. She appears wearing a magenta silk sheath dress by Jason Wu, who also designed her inaugural gown.

Every first lady since Lou Hoover, except Bess Truman, has been featured in the glossy. Hillary Clinton was the first to appear on the cover.

In an eight-page feature Mrs Obama says she makes no apologies for her fashion choices - even the election night combination of fashion-forward dress and plain-Jane cardigan.

Good for her, she is an all round role model for black women everywhere in particular and other women, she is intelligent, pretty, well dressed, has cute kids and must have a very strong character to help her husband get where he is, women can have it all evidently even in the face of much prejudice!!
