Artists draw attention to prostate disease

Some of Britain's best-known street artists have created works to raise money for prostate cancer.

The artists including D*Face, Eine, Pure Evil, Blek Le Rat and Mr Jago, were commissioned by the Prostate Cancer Charity to highlight the issue to young men.

One in 11 men will get the cancer, or 35,000 a year, so 11 artists were chosen. Each produced a canvas about 5ft 9in tall - the height of the average man.

Their works are at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane until Tuesday, before their sale at Bonhams on 24February.

Paul Forster, chairman of the charity, said: "It is fantastic to have the support of such high-profile artists.

"We hope their work will raise awareness of what is sometimes considered a taboo subject to a diverse audience in an appealing way."

Mark Owen, from Take That, has lent his name to the campaign.

"I'm a big fan of quite a few of these artists and am really impressed that all 11 of them made and donated new and original work.

"By using urban art, this is helping the Prostate Cancer Charity get the message across to young men, in a way that's not embarrassing."
