Mile-long convoy takes aid to Gaza
Mark Blunden16 Feb 2009
A humanitarian aid convoy led by George Galloway, Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, is on its way to Gaza.
A mile-long procession of 110 lorries, cars, ambulances and fire engines is undertaking a three-week, 5,000-mile overland journey.
It left Westminster on Friday with £1 million of bedding, clothes, nappies, food and medical equipment.
Mr Galloway called it "the biggest convoy of British vehicles to cross North Africa since Montgomery and the Eighth Army".

I have to agree with Marc from Harrow. The Hamas are notorious for diverting humanitarian aid to their own people. Let's hope this is not the case with this convoy.

How come we never hear of why Egypt refuse to open their border with Gaza. What do the Arabs fear from their own people?

Excellent news. We should send the navy to protect the seas around Gaza to ensure the Isrealis dont try to stop other aid shipsments to the people of Gaza. Im sick to death with how the world has to deal with the Isreali problems. The UN should sort Isreal out once and for all.

I wonder how much ends up in the hands of those who need it and how much in the hands of HAMAS.
