Triumphant Duffy heads home after Brits success via Warwick Avenue

DUFFY, the smoky-voiced singer from Wales, is the toast of the music industry today following her Brits success.
After being handed her first award from countryman Sir Tom Jones, the 24 year-old from the small town of Nefyn said: "I travelled this whole country, from Wales to London and back again a thousand times, playing my songs to old ladies, who are probably watching the TV tonight saying they heard some of my songs. So thank you to the British public.
"I can't tell you what this means after five years. Thank you so much."

Picking up her second gong, for best breakthrough act, she joked: "I'm starting to recognise your faces - I don't mean to be greedy and take another one home, but thank you so much."
Duffy confirmed her status as the Belle of the Brits, with a soulful performance of her hit Warwick Avenue in a plunging red dress. It was met with a rousing applause from the audience at Earls Court.
Later backstage she said: "I'm overwhelmed. I didn't think I would win three awards. The chances were slim. It's been the most amazing night." She would be heading home to Wales after the event where her aunt planned an "open-house party".

I am devastated to find she is loved-up with Jon Green. The world is a cruel place.

Clearly a worthy contender, she's almost as talented as Robbie Williams, but not as talented as your average Bluecoat at Pontins!
Could have been fractionally worse though, Coldplay could have won something.....
Who buys and votes for this rubbish!
(Notice how polite I was just then so they didn't censor me for using the kind of Anglo-Saxon English language that these people really deserve???)

Keith, Luton. Who can take your comments seriously. Someone who thinks Dusty Springfield dies over 20 years ago cannot be taken seriously. I have never been in any sort of choir. I think Duffy has a boring voice. O.K.

She's great. I missed The Brits but am well proud for her.
'Rain on Your Parade' is a song that will be covered endlessly and will go down as a classic.

She is soooooooooo ,over rated"
I have noticed over the years how real talent is slipping away, here in the UK."
Deborah and Ebin. Two jealous gals who were thrown out of the school choir

If she won there could not have much out there to be against her. It shows the lack of real talent we have. I have noticed over the years how real talent is slipping away, here in the UK. Plastic reality TV must be the cause.

I just hope she carries on the path she was shown by Bernard Butler and David McAlmont and go for great songwriting and depth rather than just pop. More Scott Walker than Britney please.

At last, something which isn't pop and out come the complainers.
Thank you Duffy, for giving us great songs, an unusual and brilliant vocal sound and the belief that there is still great music out there.
Stop comparing her to Dusty Springfield too. They don't sound the same at all.

is it just me - or is she absolutely gorgeous too?

"Duffy Springfield's is simple old hat "
As she's been dead over twenty years, she is more than 'old hat' while the mercurial Aimee Duffy just shines and shines. Congrats on your three gongs, girl
- Keith Price, Luton, England
Pa, I'm right there with you.
- S-M Hearmon, London, UK
Well done Duffy.
- Frank, Home Counties, England.
I would agree but frankly Duffy Springfield's is simple old hat and has no longevity. Next year , nothing....

Am I the only one who can't stand Duffy's music? Her voice absolutely grates on me.
- Pa, London
Do you know what? Our Duffy has really done us proud.

Here we go.I suppose we're going to be plagued with pictures of her for the next few days. Her music would only appeal to soppy little lovesick women.
