Ex-Guantanamo prisoner detained on visit to britain

A former Guantanamo Bay prisoner said today that he was detained at Heathrow while visiting a human rights lawyer.

Jaralla Saleh Mohammed Kahla al-Marri, 37, arrived in Britain from his native Qatar on Sunday. He was visiting Gareth Peirce, whose clients have included the Guildford Four and the family of Jean Charles de Menezes.

Mr al-Marri is now at Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre near the airport. He said officials held him because he did not include details of his Guantanamo detention on his visa application.

"They kept me for an hour then said they were going to move me. They said I was going back to my own country. They said they don't want anyone from Guantanamo here," he said.

Mr al-Marri was held in Guantanamo for six years and eight months before returning to Qatar in July last year.

March him back on the return flight there and then if the government can do that toa n elctected Dutch MP then the same should be done for him. I wonder wy he ddint put down on his visa applicatoin the full true facts? Another lawyer here trying to get another illegal into our country and then give the tax payer the bill. I am sick of it

Why was he detained and not sent back on the next plane? What is about this country? Elected members from Holland get refused entry.

What is he doing in Britian? and they were right to detain him if his details on his details weren't valid on his visa...looks like everyone who has a grudge can just come to the UK and get compensated...has to stop before the riots start and then this government will hang their heads in shame for what they've done to this country...not just this government but the past one too.
