ONE of the Three Tenors who transformed classical music with their performance at the 1990 World Cup is to be honoured at the Classical Brits.

José Carreras, 62, who appeared at Italia 90 with Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo, will be awarded a lifetime achievement award and will sing at the 10th annual event at the Albert Hall on 14 May. The Spanish tenor said: "I was honoured to hear that the Classical Brit Awards had offered me this distinction."
