Tory out of love with Romeo And Julian

A SCHOOL has come under fire for staging a gay version of Romeo And Juliet - renamed Romeo And Julian.

Students aged 14 to 16 at Leytonstone School put on the reworking of Shakespeare's play to mark Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History month.

Two boys played the star-crossed lovers while Mercutio and Benvolio were played by girls. Drama teacher Jo Leston adapted the play to challenge homophobia and it was performed last month in front of gay actor Sir Ian McKellen. Tory MP Philip Davies attacked the "politically correct" production.

What an excellent idea, people are already making the comparison between Gaza and Warsaw. I'll buy a copy !

Maybe they could do another version of Brokeback Mountain when instead of the cowboys deciding they are gay they go home and make out with their wives / girlfriends.

Don't discriminate against homosexuals but don't actively promote the lifestyle above and in favour of heterosexual lifestyles.

- Adam, Harrow, UK

Good on them! David and Jonathan are in the Bible so why not Romeo and Julian on stage?
