Constable art riddle reveals his parents

THE parents of artist John Constable have been reunited on canvas after two cases of mistaken identity were solved.
Research for a new exhibition on one of Britain's best-loved Romantic artists has shown a portrait of Constable's mother, Ann, thought to have been a copy was produced by Constable himself in around 1805.
And a picture identified as the artist's schoolmaster is really Constable's father, Golding. The re-attribution was made by Anne Lyles, a Tate curator, and author Martin Gayford. The exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery opens on Thursday until 14 June, with £5 admission charge.
