Score for Psycho to fetch £40,000

4 Mar 2009

The original score for the soundtrack of Psycho is to go under the hammer.

Bernard Herrmann's music for the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock horror film is set to sell for up to £40,000.

The score, including the music from the infamous murder scene in the shower, is one of a collection of his scores, manuscripts and books at a Bonhams auction on 24 March.

A spokesman said: "It will be very popular given the almost mythical nature of the movie."

Other items for sale from the film world include letters by Orson Welles and Martin Scorsese.

I agree the price is steep, but to say that Psycho is not noted for its music I think is inaccurate.

You'd have to be a psycho to want to buy a sheet of written musical notes, for a film not noted for its music
