Jade’s journey - dying tv star leaves hospital with husband by her side

Terminally-ill television star Jade Goody left hospital today.

The 27-year-old former Big Brother star, pictured above on a trolley, was wheeled to an ambulance from Royal Marsden Hospital just after 10am, accompanied by her husband, Jack Tweed, 21, and a nurse.

Goody, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last summer and is now said to have gone blind in one eye from the disease, reached out for Tweed's hand as he saw her into the ambulance. The pyjama-clad mother-of-two did not speak but did attempt a wave at well-wishers.

Earlier, her publicist Max Clifford said she was "desperate" to return to her home in Upshire, Essex, to be with Tweed and her two sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four. Goody, covered by a red blanket, appeared frail as she arrived at her home, where her mother, Jackiey Budden, was waiting.

Ms Budden told reporters her daughter was "pleased" to be home, before closing a gate to the property.

Medics agreed to discharge Goody, but her condition is deteriorating. The tumours have spread to her liver, bowel and groin and she has been told she has weeks to live. On Monday, she was left shaken after a woman intruder entered her room with a hammer.

Footage of Goody preparing for her wedding to Tweed last month will be aired tonight on Living TV.

I couldn't be more different to Jade and doubt that she and I would've got on if we'd met before she was famous! But there's something about her and her story that touches many people and puts the humanity and sense of mortality back into a life where we can get too carried away with things that are not all that important. Jade and the way her story has been portrayed have done a lot for the nation. I wish her well and absolutely do care what happens to her.

i totally support jade goody in this last journey of her tumultous life.. god put her there for a purpose..if you go on youtube there is a particularly moving tribute that i saw yesterday that brought me to tears..i have seen this all before .. 20yrs ago this march when i lost one of my closest friends to the dreaded big C .. she too left a 3 yr old child with no memories of a very loving and caring mother who worried so much about leaving her child behind..we used to discuss this during the last months of her own illness. the end was abrupt with no warning..i expect that jades end will be similar .. however this girl has done more in her 27yrs than most will do in a life time and she leaves memories that will comfort those loved ones who share her last moments...the legacy her husband can leave for her is for him to grow up... her boys will hopefully keep her memory alive and lastly GOD CAN DO MIRACLES. she can still be saved.. nothing is impossible.. ..

People need to stop debating about Press Coverage/ Making money and think about how Jade's MUM & GRANDPARENTS & Loved Ones must be feeling...Jade is leaving 2 Precious Sons Behind which is Heartbreaking for Her And Them. But she has done MORE about raising Cancer Awareness in young women than ANY Health Campaign could EVER Have done...She's been Brave & Dignified Throughout her Terrible Struggle with Cancer. Her Boys will be Loved by Everyone in their lives, and Jade will be Remembered by Many People for Many Years.

I do not think people complain about Jade being in the press, but how far the Publicity has gone - it has gone far beyond making money for her family and cancer awareness. My sympathies go to jade and her family, but I am a little surprised as to the status she has been elevated to and that now her Publcist is arranging a public funeral for her. It has become a bit like a car crash that people are stopping to look at.

I hate seeing Jade suffering like this, it's awful. But, despite Jade's time in the press, she has saved lives. Jade's story has encouraged members of the public to be checked for Cervical Cancer, and after watching a programme the other night, this was prooved. I feel for her & her family at this time, and also for all those who are going through such a similar thing to Jade.

I can't understand all these people who are complaining about Jade Goody being in the press. No matter what anyone's thought ever were on Jade are we all forgetting that aside from that, this is a young mother who is about to lose her life to a horrific illness and is suffering greatly. If I was in Jade's position, being a mum to young children myself, I would be the same. Contrary to popular belief there are people out there who are concerned about what's going on and I'm sure all this press attention has made a few women think more serious about their health. I wish Jade's little boys all the love and happiness for their future, a future sadly, without their mum.

Jade's life in the press has been so very compelling. I check in everyday just to see how she's doing. I hate to see her suffer each day like this. But omg! what a life!
