Wembley in the ring to host 2012 boxing to save £15m

OLYMPIC boxing could be set for a historic return to Wembley.

Games chiefs are in talks with the international boxing federation to switch the 2012 competition from the ExCel centre in Docklands to Wembley, which hosted the 1948 Olympics. Under the plan, competitors would stay in local hotels and avoid the commute from the Olympic village in Stratford. The plan will be discussed by the Olympic board today and Wembley Arena's owners, Quintain, have been approached.

Games chiefs have been considering dropping a £40 million temporary arena next to the O2 Arena in Greenwich. They believe that by using Wembley instead they can save £15 million.

We are commited to putting on the summer Olympics of 2012 so let's just get on with making it a wonderful games and the best advert that London and the UK has had around the world for some years. If we need to save money let's look at scrapping the double world cup bids from the F.A.

Scrap the whole tournament. In recognition of Golden Gordon's mantra that we are in a global crisis, let's have a break from this festival of running about, jumping and throwing things.

2016 in Paris, anyone?

We tax payers will be paying for Coe's gravy train for decades. The cost has already spiralled out of control and he wants to spend another £6million on art! Countries who might consider bidding to host future olympics might learn from our mistakes and ensure their committee members are intelligent and fit for purpose.

We will pay for the OLYMPICS for decades. Move the horse riding and shooting back to their normal sites. This is actually what the competitors want and would be a tourist boost for those areas.

And they want to blow £6 million on Art. Beggars belief. Joined up thinking, er no. We are in a recession, yet you poor (Although the Olympic Committee obviously think you are rich) southerners will have to foot the bill.
