I hope he will die in prison, daughter of Fritzl reveals

Dave Hill in St Poelten
20 Mar 2009

JOSEF FRITZL's daughter Elisabeth hopes her father will die in prison after he was sentenced to life at his rape and murder trial.

Elisabeth, 42, told her lawyer she "sincerely hopes" her rapist father who held her captive in a secret dungeon for 24 years, will never be released from secure psychiatric custody.

Authorities in Amstetten, Austria, announced they are looking at compulsorily purching Fritzl's three-storey home to prevent it being turned into a macabre tourist attraction.

It was beneath this ordinary-looking house that building engineer Fritzl, 73, carved out a dungeon hidden behind eight doors in which he locked up Elisabeth when she was 18 in 1984. He raped her three times a week for 24 years, fathering seven children with her.

Three he removed to live upstairs with him and wife Rosemarie, three more spent their lives underground with Elisabeth.

A seventh, a twin boy, died three days after birth, for which Fritzl was convicted of murder by neglect. Elisabeth suffered a miscarriage early on in her ordeal.

Fritzl has large debts including a big mortgage on the Amstetten property where he was born in 1935.

It's said that in prison he may have a pet.
Send him to Australia, we have some crocodiles I'm sure would love to meet him.

What a terribly hurtful thing for her to say. That's one of the problems with today's youth. No respect for their elders.

And lets hope he dies slowly, very slowly and in pain.
