Family who died in US ski plane crash
Ed Harris24 Mar 2009
THIS is the first picture of a family who were among 14 people killed when the small plane taking them on a ski trip crashed and burst into flames as it landed in Montana.
Eye surgeon Erin Jacobson, 36, and his wife Amy, also 36, were killed in the crash on Sunday as they flew from their California home.
Their three children - Taylor, four; Ava, three; and one-year-old Jude - also died when the single-engine turboprop aeroplane crashed short of an airfield in the city of Butte.
Also killed were Mrs Jacobson's sister, Vanessa Pullen, her husband, Michael, and their children, aged seven and nine. Mrs Pullen and Mrs Jacobson were reported to be the daughters of the president of the firm responsible for the plane.
A third family died in the crash, Brent and Kirsten Ching and their two children. The other person killed was the pilot, Buddy Summerfield.
The US government was today investigating overloading as a possible cause of the crash.
Federal Aviation Administration officials said some versions of the Swiss Pilatus aircraft were certified to carry up to 10 passengers. The plane was carrying 14 people, including the pilot, but half of them were aged nine or under.

This is just so terrible - what a beautiful family. These days there are far too many small aircrafts crashing and killing people, both here and in the US so about time flying passengers was left to the professional pilots. The pain of the family left behind must be indescribable. God Bless all those who died in this terrible tragedy XXX
