Fashion students' Topshop deal to put style back into biking

TWO London fashion students are to launch a range of cycling clothing for women after landing a deal with Topshop.

The line is aimed at female riders tired of unflattering fluorescent jackets and bulky waterproofs.

London College of Fashion student Amy Fleuriot and textile graduate Sarah Buck said they founded Cyclodelic to put style back into bicycling clothes.

The handmade range will be launched at Topshop's flagship Oxford Street store on 9 April.

It includes satin cycling caps, customised bar grip tape, colourful D-lock holsters and even jewelled reflective trouser cuffs. Latest figures show the number of people cycling on London's roads since 2000 has soared by 91 per cent, a figure boosted by the credit crunch.

The designers, both keen cyclists, believe women want to look good when they are out on their bikes. Ms Fleuriot said: "Cyclodelic has taken part in London Fashion Week, but it will be even more fantastic to see our designs displayed next to Kate Moss's collection "

Cyclodelic's customers include TV presenter Dawn Porter, who said: "I asked Cyclodelic to design me a stylish and exclusive bag. I love it and people always compliment me on it."
