Woman who killed stranger jailed

A WOMAN who stabbed to death a stranger out cycling was jailed for at least 15 years by the Old Bailey.

Sarah Anderson, 26, knifed Dee Willis, 28, in the neck outside a Peckham supermarket last July.

Sentencing Anderson to life imprisonment, Judge Richard Hone described the killing as "a primeval moment". He said: "This was a sort of revenge attack, albeit it may be that you had others in mind to stab apart from Dee Willis.

"To use a knife to the neck with a single blow of at least moderate force up to the hilt plainly shows a great likelihood of intending to kill."

He added: "At 26 you should have been able to control yourself and thought of the consequences for your seven-year-old son. Your inability to face up to what you have done does you no credit."

Anderson has a previous conviction for assault which, the judge said, showed she had "an uncontrolled temper".

During the trial the court heard that Anderson had been involved in a row with two other women in a pub on the day of the murder.

She had stormed out warning, "Watch out, I'm coming back", and went home for the knife.

On Anderson's return she saw Ms Willis, words were exchanged and, after a short struggle, she plunged the knife into her victim.
