Women protest over male staff in lingerie shops
Evening Standard26 Mar 2009
WOMEN in Saudi Arabia have launched a campaign to boycott lingerie shops until a law is implemented to allow female staff.
Only men are allowed to work in shops to enforce the country's strict gender segregation. But women are embarrassed to ask male staff about their underwear and bra sizes.
Huda Batterjee, 26, who went to Dubai to buy her lingerie for her wedding, said when she goes into an underwear shop "you feel almost taken advantage of".

I don't know, I could think of a worse job than having to help someone choose lingerie....seriously though, is anyone actually surprised? Although I would have thought that most woman in Saudi are fully covered, wouldn't their identity and blushes be hidden?...maybe all the men working in these shops are closet transvestites and want to work there?.....it'll all end in tears!!!!!

Strikes me that islam is unequal for all women. Also how does islam defend the men from lust and depravity in a female underwear shop ?

This law is hardly surprising given the fact that women are regarded with only slightly higher esteem than dogs in Saudi.

"Only men are allowed to work in shops". Gender separation. How civilised, how 21st century.
