THE KILLERS will headline a three-day rock festival in Hyde Park this summer.

Hard Rock Calling will take place from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June. Bands on the bill include The Kooks, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, The Pretenders and the Dave Matthews Band, although the final line-up is yet to be confirmed.

The chief operating officer of festival organiser Live Nation, John Probyn, said he expected thousands to flock to the park for the event, the largest of its kind in the capital.

"We are committed to bringing great music to the heart of London every summer and with such an amazing line-up this year, there is something for everyone," he said. Hard Rock International vice-president Sean Dee said: "We truly have a must-see bill for this year's highly anticipated weekend-long show."

A spokesman for The Killers said they were delighted to be headlining the 2009 festival, at which Eric Clapton, The Police, The Bangles and KT Tunstall played last year.

Tickets cost £45 and go on sale this Friday.

The thousands will be there to see the class acts such as springsteen and Neil young, thay dont need a pay day and thay have stood the test of time, there music has endured and that is the true test of a artist.

Graham, I dont really like any of those bands, but at least the Killers are a recent group trying to reach more of an audience rather than an old group trying for a final payday.

How can a little known group such as the killers 'headline' such well known artists as Springsteen and the pretenders ???
