Culture, Media and Sport Committee visit to California 18-23 May 2008...

Flights: Virgin Upper Class return to San Francisco. Estimated cost: £7,733. Internal flight to Orange County with American Airlines.

Accommodation: Three nights at Phillipe Starke-designed Clift Hotel in San Francisco, which describes itself as "a wonderland for the jetset". Features one of the city's best Asian restaurants. Cheapest rooms from £173. One night at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Rooms start at £205.

Allowances: $89 (£60) per day in San Francisco and $146 (£99) in Los Angeles. They were "abated" (reduced) for an undisclosed amount on three days because lunches were provided.

Meetings: Piczo Inc, EA Games, Facebook, Yahoo!, Google, YouTube.

Finally we have the answer. I have always wondered where the extra £260 billion taken in tax each year goes, (1997 £340 bil, 2008 £600bil) It goes into the troff for the little piggies to feast from and to pay enough freeloaders to vote them back into power next time.
