Tube strike called over 2004 dispute

Dick Murray, Transport Editor

TUBE commuters face disruption after union bosses ordered a 24-hour strike among station staff on the Jubilee line in a five-year-old dispute.

The RMT, largest of the Tube unions, has instructed 100 station staff in west London to walk-out from 7pm tomorrow until the same time on Thursday.

Stations to be affected include Willesden Green, Dollis Hill, Kilburn, West Hampstead, Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage and St John's Wood.

In 2004 bosses of train drivers' union Aslef accused management of harassing staff for taking days off sick and wrongfully docking their pay. A manager was removed from his post but now the RMT is claiming a "breakdown in relations" in the continuing dispute.
