Union: Save jobs at RBS jobs protected

Evening Standard
07.04.09

THE Government must intervene to stop another 9,000 jobs being axed at Royal Bank of Scotland, trade union Unite said today.

RBS, which was nationalised after running up record losses of £24.1 billion last year, said 4,500 of the cuts would come in Britain, mainly in call centres, IT and property management.

Unite's Rob MacGregor said: “The Government must defend jobs and act urgently to put in place a clear programme of action to protect jobs in this country.”
