Eurostar fleet gets a 'Ferrari' makeover
Bo Wilson9 Apr 2009
THE interiors of Eurostar trains are to be revamped by an Italian car designer.
Eurostar said that after a "lengthy and vigorous process" it had agreed a contract with Pininfarina, which has worked with manufacturers such as Ferrari and Maserati and completed projects with Alfa Romeo, Ford and Volvo.
The multi-million-pound redesign of the fleet will be the first major refurbishment of the 28 trains since the Channel Tunnel rail services began in 1994.
The first of the refurbished trains will go into service in 2012.
The trains will be replaced in 15 years, according to French state-owned train company SNCF, which is overseeing the project.

They already compare favourably with most TGVs, which are unbelievably scruffy. The worrying thing is that SNCF is in charge of this project.
