Service for dead in copter crash

Evening Standard
15.04.09

Gordon Brown and Prince Charles will join hundreds of mourners today at a memorial service for 16 men who died when their helicopter crashed in the North Sea.

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond and the Duchess of Cornwall will also be among those at the service in Aberdeen.

TV screens outside the Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting will relay the service to those unable to get in.

The 14 passengers and two crew were returning from a BP platform two weeks ago when their Super Puma went down 11 miles north-east of Peterhead. An initial report found the helicopter suffered a "catastrophic" gearbox failure.
