The End set for new beginning as Den club

ONE of London's best known nightclubs is set to reopen only months after it was closed to be turned into flats.

The End closed in January after 13 years playing host to some of the biggest DJs in dance music.

Developers bought the Holborn club for £8million with the intention of building apartments.

But the deal collapsed as demand for new properties plummeted in the credit crunch.

The firm will now rebrand the venue as Den.

The venture is being masterminded by Lee Bennett who used to run the Astoria and Bagleys clubs, which both closed.

The Den's event manager John Duckett, 36, said: "Clubland has been having a difficult time and we have seen a lot of big name venues close so this will provide a much needed boost."

The Den will open on 2 May.
