Heathrow builds £260m luggage tunnel
Danny Brierley28 Apr 2009
WORK is under way on this £260million tunnel designed to reunite every Heathrow passenger with their luggage, regardless of which terminal they use.
The new 1.1mile tunnel will link terminals 1, 5 and 3 with existing underpasses to connect all five terminals.
The network will allow the airport to handle 110 million bags a year when finished in 2012. Last year British Airways flew a mountain of luggage lost at Terminal 5 to the US, where cases were sorted before being sent back to their owners.

At least they will have somewhere to store the mountain of lost bags that will doubtless accumulate at some point this summer.

Bing bong....Customers are informed that luggage is being delayed delayed due to signalling problems at Terminal 2....or maybe due to wildcat industrial action by RMT members.
