What is Tamiflu?
An anti-viral drug used to treat influenza. It comes in capsules or in powder form which is made up into an oral medicine.
How effective is the drug against swine fever?
The drug can reduce the severity of flu and help limit its spread while a vaccine is developed. But doctors need to prescribe it early when people are starting to display mild flu symptoms.
Where can I get it?
Tamiflu is available on the NHS for people aged 65 and over as well as to young people with serious health problems. Anyone who is not eligible on the NHS can buy the drug online in packs of 10 for £159.95.
Can children use it?
Tamiflu is not suitable for children under the age of one.
