World Health Organisation raises level 5 alert

The World Health Organisation has raised its flu level warning to five, one short of a full pandemic.

This is how the flu has spread around the world:

Mexico: 176 deaths and 2,500 suspected cases.

United States: one death and 91 confirmed cases.

New Zealand: 13 confirmed cases.

Canada: 13 confirmed cases.

Spain: 10 confirmed cases and firm confirmed case of the disease in someone who has not visited Mexico. This proves the virus can cross from human to human.

Germany: three confirmed cases.

Israel: two confirmed cases.

Switzerland: one confirmed case.

Austria: one confirmed case.

Peru: one confirmed case in a woman from Argentina.

Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala are testing handfuls of people.

Brazil has 20 suspected cases and Chile 24.
