Max Mosley's son found dead after drugs overdose

THE son of motor racing boss Max Mosley has been found dead at his London home.
Police said this afternoon he had suffered a drugs overdose. The body of Alexander Mosley, 39, a restaurateur and economist, was found slumped in a room by a relative yesterday afternoon at his £1 million mews house in Notting Hill.
Last July Max Mosley won a legal action over claims that a sado-masochistic orgy he took part in had Nazi overtones. He said then that the
revelations were “devastating and “humiliating” for his sons Alexander and Patrick.
A neighbour today said Alexander was a heroin addict. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, added: “People knew Alex used the drug, it wasn't a big secret. It seemed to be widespread knowledge that he had a heroin addiction.”
Eddie Jordan, former owner of the Jordan Formula One team, said he was “devastated”. He remembered Alexander being around the track as a young boy with his father. “Max and Alexander, particularly, were very close,” he said. Mr Jordan said the father and son shared “a great intellect” and he described Alexander as a “hugely clever and talented computer expert”.
He added: “It's totally tragic, he was such a bright boy. I'm devastated for them.”
Max Mosley had been due to fly to Spain for this weekend's Grand Prix but cancelled his trip.
Alexander is Max Mosley's elder son and the grandson of the Thirties fascist leader Oswald Mosley and his wife Diana Mitford.
Neighbours at Alexander's home said he had been seen entering the house with another man an hour before police arrived yesterday.
Staff at Mr Mosley's restaurant expressed their shock at his death. Duty manager Emmanuel Guerra said: “He seemed fine and happy. He was just a normal man, everyone liked him.”
The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, which his father chairs, said in a statement this afternoon: “The FIA extends sincere condolences to the Mosley family on the sad news of the death of Alexander Mosley. Our thoughts are with Alexander's family and friends.”
A neighbour who lived next door to Alexander said he was “cheerful and optimistic” when he spoke to him recently. The man, who would only give his name as John, said: “I was only talking to him a few days ago and he was bright and cheerful. He spoke about things he wanted to do in the future, like expanding his restaurant business and he also spoke about another property he owned and said he was considering renting it out. He seemed to be quite forward looking.”
The neighbour added: “There were police outside the house last night but I didn't realise what had happened until today. It is shocking.
“He was always polite and courteous and didn't seem unhappy at all.” A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “We were called at 16.20 yesterday to reports of a male found dead. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner has been informed.”
