An all-girls private school was shut today because of swine flu.

Lady Eleanor Holles in Hampton has closed for a week on the advice of the health protection agency.

It comes as the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in London rose to 57, with 10 being diagnosed yesterday. There are now 92 people with the virus in England.

Hampton School, an all-boys school next door to Lady Eleanor Holles, will reopen today after being closed for a week.

Barnes Primary School in Richmond, Eaton Square nursery in Westminster and Blackheath Preparatory school in Greenwich remain closed.

A high school assistant principal has become the first New York City death linked to the outbreak.

He had been sick for nearly a week before his school was closed on Thursday.
