Roads
The Highways Agency says there will be speed restrictions and lane closures at junction 12 of the M25, 11 of the M4 and one to four of the M3. Graham Smith, of Trafficmaster, predicted the roads would be twice as busy as usual, with 1.5 million cars around London. He said: “We are expecting more traffic on routes to places like the West Country, Norfolk Broads and the Lake District.” Contact the Highways Agency on 08457 50 40 30 or go to www.highways.gov.uk

Planes
BAA, which runs Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, said it expected to run a full schedule with no anticipated delays. Nearly 770,000 people are expected to fly out of Heathrow this weekend, with 430,000 planning to leave from Gatwick. The company said: “It will be busier than a normal weekend but there should not be any panic. We don't anticipate any problems.” Check www.baa.com for up-to-date flight information.

Tubes
Buses will replace Jubilee Line services between Stanmore and London Bridge on Saturday, North Greenwich and Stratford on Sunday and Green Park and Stratford on Monday. The Metropolitan line will be suspended and the Northern line will be off between Finchley Central and High Barnet. Goodge Street station will be closed and Overground services will be cut between Gospel Oak and Stratford on Sunday and Monday. Go to www.tfl.gov.uk for more information.

Network Rail is planning major work during the weekend. Mill Hill, Elstree and West Hampstead stations will be affected, and Liverpool Street could see delays because of engineering. Virgin Trains will run one diverted train from Euston to Birmingham this weekend, with a coach service to Milton Keynes. An extra 10,000 passengers are expected on Eurostar.
