A Royal Marine died in hospital today from wounds he suffered in a blast in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said today.
The serviceman, from the Royal Marine Armoured Support Group, was seriously injured when a blast struck his Viking vehicle near Lashkar Gah in Helmand Province last Friday.
He was brought back to Britain for specialist treatment but died at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham late last night. Next of kin have been informed, but his identity had not been revealed today.
