Two London high fliers have sacrificed six-figure salaries to start a shop selling sandwiches sourced from British farms.
Former bank IT designer Dominic Kamara, 37, and ex-Saatchi & Saatchi executive Craig Wills, 34, have opened an outlet in Cowcross Street, near Smithfield, and are planning more sites this year.
The shop, Farm Collective, makes £3,000 a week after winning over City workers interested in the provenance of their food.
The long-standing friends had the idea four years ago. Mr Kamara said: "We've got very few people doing transparent UK sourcing with no air miles. It's often assumed it's going to be expensive and not very accessible."
The pair source 95 per cent of their food from 27 farms across Britain. Sandwiches range from £2.70 for cheddar and chutney to £3.60 for salmon with cucumber.
The pair each put in about £60,000 of their savings - Mr Kamara sold his home and moved to a student flat in Brick Lane. Mr Wills, of Clapham, said: "It's been the most thrilling experience."
