Cristiano Ronaldo escaped charges today over writing off his £200,000 Ferrari.
The 23-year-old footballer was being investigated for careless driving after crashing the 205mph car while taking it for its first spin.
Ronaldo lost control of the vehicle and ploughed into a crash barrier inside a tunnel near Manchester airport last January. He escaped uninjured.
A police spokesman said: "No further action will be taken."
Ronaldo, who is heading to Real Madrid after an £80million deal with Manchester United, told police he simply lost control of the car.
If convicted of careless driving, he could have faced a six-month ban and £2,500 fine.

What would they (the police) have done anyway. He is moving to Spain and there is no way the Spanish authorities would hand over someone as valuable/famous as Ronaldo irrespective of what crime he had committed. They would say get stuffed UK, just the same as the people deprived of their houses in Spain and the water around Gibralter !!!

What sort of a punishment would a six-month ban and a £2,500 fine be for somebody who is about to leave the country on a £80million meal ticket? The only injury was to his wallet anyway. He´s got to replace his Ferrari.
