Barack Obama
Barack Obama swats fly after being interrupted by the insect during televised interview

WATCH: No fly zone - Barack Obama kills insect on live TV

He may have huge domestic and global problems to deal with, but President Barack Obama had to solve an issue of a different kind during a television interview at the White House today.

The President found himself persistently interrupted by a fly when speaking with CNBC correspondent John Harwood.

With his frustration growing he took matters into his own hands, telling the fly: "Get out of here."

The fly took no notice.

So Obama waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead with a single hit.

The president then turned to interviewer Harwood and said: "Now, where were we", before boasting: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."

OMG...who cares? He killed a fly. Wow that's amazing. People seem to forget that the president is also a HUMAN. He's probably been killing flies his whole life. Jesus get over it.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching flyswatting incident on news yesterday - I thought how cool is that guy. However, just read on the internet that an American Animal Rights group are protesting about Mr President killing fly - I laughed till I cried.

The are no flys on this guy! Very impressive, it's a pity we don't have someone like him in UK politics. What you see is what you get with the President and his family, if only we had such honesty, integrity, good sense of humour etc, real people trying to give something to the world instead of the greedy , self seeking MPs we have in our Parliament. The nearest we have is Frank Field and Anne Widdicombe in terms of what you see is what you get, but I don't think either of them can catch flys like Obama, but lets hope they can swat a few dishonest MPs; if either of them becomes the Speaker next Monday.

pesky things! I am not into killing insects or anything else with the exception of rats/mice, mosquitoes and flies. I have no problem that he had to get rid of it.

Has anyone noticed that Obama looks like one of Batman's adversaries? Kind of a mixture of The Joker and The Riddler, no?

I couldn't kill a fly, I'm afraid.
In similar situations, I always use a can of spray starch. I give the fly a good soaking. I wait till it sets and the wings get stiff, then I open the window, and they sort of glide out.

Very brave of him. He should try picking on something his own size. This also happens to be the most decisive thing he has done in the last three months.
