Andy Money: Murray's success has sent ticket prices on the black market soaring

Fans in online scramble to get £92 tickets for Murray’s semi-final

Andy Murray fans were poised for an internet scramble today as tickets for his Wimbledon semi final showdown were set to go on sale online.

Several hundred tickets for Murray's match against American Andy Roddick tomorrow will be on sale on the ticketmaster.co.uk website at 8.30 tonight.

Tickets for the clash have been traded on websites for thousands of pounds, but those available tonight will be priced at just £92.

Centre Court tickets are no longer available to the dwindling band of diehard fans camping out in Wimbledon Park.

Those on sale on the website tonight have been returned or held back for sale.

A spokesman said: “It is still the queue, but a virtual one.”

Murray's success so far has sent black market prices soaring for Sunday's men's final. One seller offered four Centre Court final tickets online for £20,000 each.

The Standard found seats being sold on eBay which broke the All England Club's resale rules.

Most tickets resold on the web are allowed as they are debenture seats. But other seats for the finals are being sold illegally by touts.

On eBay two debenture tickets were offered for £6,950. There were also non-debenture tickets, with one pair offered for £2,500 and another for £1,000.

The All England Club said it would monitor any disallowed sale and try to prevent the purchaser from entering.

One official said: “We will trace the re-seller and take legal action.”
