Prince Harry’s plea to help Aids orphans

Sri Carmichael, Consumer Affairs Reporter

The people of an African country ravaged by Aids will be “decimated” unless action is taken, Prince Harry has warned.

He appealed for help for Lesotho, where his charity Sentebale works to help Aids orphans, in a speech last night at HSBC's investment banking division in London.

Harry set up Sentebale in 2006 with Lesotho's Prince Seeiso.

I believe the most important thing Prince Harry is doing is raising awareness of the situation in Africa. I work for a Love Is All We Need and in one South African community that we support there are up to 189 parents/carers dying every week. Imagine the increasing number of AIDS orphans that means. If this was happening in our own community we would take dramatic action. We may not be able to solve Africa's problems but a small donation can transform the lives of AIDS orphans.

I thought he was in Shropshire learning to fly helicopters.
His course instructors must find life difficult having to work around Harry's outside engagements.

Perhaps he can ask his Dad to chuck a few million of his annual profit into the begging bowl ? I would like to know whether Harry is a net contributor to Sentebale - I bet he isn't, even without considering his expenses.

Corruption and very poor governance are the major problems in Africa. Throwing more and more money at the problems associated with poverty will not help one bit.

Africa is not a problem we in Europe can solve, plus we have our own problems. If the Prince really cares perhaps he should do something rather than looking for bandwagon to ride on. As he does not England as he said in a quote in 2008 :" I don't like England much" perhaps he can live in Africa.
