Happier time: Kelly Hoppen with her former partner Nicky Clarke. The designer was left with cuts and bruises after being attacked in Notting Hill

Kelly Hoppen mugged for her £10,000 watch

Interior designer Kelly Hoppen has spoken of her shock after becoming the latest celebrity to be mugged by violent robbers.

Ms Hoppen, 49, whose clients include Elton John and the Beckhams, suffered cuts and bruises to an arm after the attack near her home in Notting Hill.

Her Rolex watch was stolen during the robbery on Friday afternoon.

It is understood that Ms Hoppen was walking back to her Georgian townhouse from a nearby shop when attacked. A man wearing dark glasses is said to have walked past her, then pushed her before forcing the £10,000 Rolex from her right arm.

Twice-divorced Ms Hoppen, who recently split from hairdresser boyfriend Nicky Clarke, said: "I was mugged on Friday and got hurt. It was awful. My injury is getting better now."

The attacker is said to be 5ft 9in tall. He was wearing a T-shirt and baggy trousers, both dark in colour.

Several other celebrities have fallen foul of criminals snatching designer jewellery in the capital. Last month S Club singer Rachel Stevens had a diamond engagement ring, a Rolex and a necklace stolen as she walked near her Regent's Park home.

What strikes me is the completely useless description of the assailant. I assume even criminals change clothes so all we know is he was 5ft 9. Was he black, white, asian, blonde, long hair......etc? Or have the police already given up as per usual?

Totally agree with you. Adam, if I were in her position I wouldn't be such a plank as to spend £10k on a watch.

Adam, London, UK, asks me... "how would you feel?"

I wouldn't be in her position. But if I was, I'd have people like you to support me - so no worries, yeah? Incidentally, on my second point, how do YOU feel about the droves of OAPs who get regularly mugged on the streets of London? Oh, NOT celebs, yeah?

How unfortunate - WOW! I've just discovered the name of yet another "celebrity" by reading of the theft of her ten thousand pounds wristwatch. But I wonder, is this earth-shattering "news" as important as reading about an OAP being mugged for their state pension on a London street?

what a narrow minded thing to say. put yourself in her position. how would you feel?
