Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a locked train toilet at Liverpool Street station today.

The man is believed to be in his early 20s and was discovered surrounded by drug paraphernalia at around 4.30am.

He was found by the driver as he walked the train, carrying out final checks on the last Network Express East Anglia train from Stansted, which arrived at 1.20am.

An ambulance was called but the man was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem is being carried out at St Pancras Mortuary.

British Transport Police are treating the death as unexplained.
