Prince praised for BNP snub

16 Jul 2009

Prince Charles won praise today for excluding the BNP from a Clarence House party.

The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall invited all of the London Assembly but the BNP's Richard Barnbrook to an event for a youth project.

Labour said the Prince had “a fantastic record of racial harmony”.

If I choose not to allow racists in my house, that doesn't mean I am against democracy.

Just because someone got themselves elected, it doesn't mean I have to invite him into my house.

Prince Charles is entitled to his opinion and I suppose he's even entitled to snub people like this, but I don't think any of it really matters because quite frankly how many people these days give 2 hoots what the royal family do about anything? Whatever else Richard Barnbrook does, at least he earns his keep and, no doubt, manages those activities that are apparently beyond Prince Charles's capabilities, e.g. squirting toothpaste onto his own toothbrush.

He should not be getting involved in politics.

Nowan King (like the name by the way), I can give a reason why this will make more people vote BNP. Simply because the vast majority of us believe in democracy - you may have heard of it - and this beahviour by the foolish prince goes against it.

This is shameful considering Richard Barnbrock is part of the London assembly, he was elected into this assembly and probably is the most patriotic member in there.

P Staker, London - using stereotypical slights that are demonstrably off the mark (you don't get to be a pilot and/or the commander of a RN ship if you're an idiot, no matter who you are in society - he's managed to do both... what are your qualifications?) only show up the accuser, not the target of his venom. Only the stupid confuse disagreement with a given point of view as stupidity.

You disagree with his points of view? Fine. That's allowed. He's entitled to do the same. Live with it. Or not... either way you're post suggests you want to demonstrate an increased need for indulgent, even amused tolerance on the part of the rest of society for the likes of you and your presumed friends of the BNP and the like. Like HRH, I choose to exercise my right to choose otherwise.

"He will never be King anyway, people have alway laughed about how useless he is."

I think you've misunderstood the concept of hereditary monarchy there, old son.

These sort of actions though will only make people vote BNP more, not less, durrgghh

- P Staker, London

Can't see any sensible reason why, P Staker (like the name by the way). What reasons can you give?

So it's OK to believe in what you want, as long as labour and prince charles sanction it.

He will never be King anyway, people have alway laughed about how useless he is.
