Chris Tarrant's ex-wife convicted of fleeing police in parking row
Robert Mendick, Chief Reporter16 Jul 2009
Chris Tarrant's ex-wife Ingrid was found guilty today of resisting arrest after being chased for two miles by police over a parking ticket.
Ingrid Tarrant, 54, who was divorced from the broadcaster last year, was called "abrupt and rude" by an officer who tried to issue her with a ticket for parking her silver Saab at a bus stop, Staines magistrates' court heard.
The officer said at one point he feared she had "mental health issues". She drove off in Cobham High Street in Surrey on Christmas Eve. He chased her for two miles, stopped her, wrestled her to the ground and handcuffed her. She said she drove off as she was intimidated by the officer and "petrified" in the struggle.
Tarrant, of Cobham, was convicted of parking in a bus stop, failing to stop for police, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest and was fined £2,700 plus £1,200 costs. She refused to comment.

Should've made a proper example of this arrogant lawbreaker with a much heavier fine and/or three months in the slammer. Oh, and did they take her DNA?

Most people when confronted with the consequences of their misbehaviour ARE intimidated by the authorities bringing them to book. Same goes for being petrified when you find out that physically struggling against someone bigger and stronger than you is bound to fail. It's called fear of the consequences.
