The mistress of a British-born millionaire property developer on trial for murder has been found dead, according to US reports.

Thanos Papalexis, who lives in Palm Beach, Florida, is accused of killing a caretaker who allegedly stood in the way of a business deal in north London. The Old Bailey trial is in its sixth week.

Papalexis's lover, Marie-Helene Jarry, 42, has been found dead at her townhouse home in Riviera Beach, Turtle Cay, Florida. It is claimed her body - reportedly found on a bed next to an empty vodka bottle - had lain undiscovered for about a month.

Ms Jarry's ex-husband, Ron Purpura, who found the partly decomposed body, claims Ms Jarry had sunk into depression after problems in her relationship with Papalexis.

Papalexis, 36, Ylli Xhelo, 36, of no fixed address, and Robert Baxhija, 29, of north London, all deny murdering Charalambos Christodoulides in Kilburn in 2000.

Police said Ms Jarry's death was not being treated as suspicious.
