Lord Sugar takes his seat
20.07.09

Sir Alan Sugar was today ennobled as Lord Sugar of Clapton in the Borough of Hackney.
Taking his seat in the upper chamber, his territorial designation was a reminder of his early entrepreneurial days: aged 12, he collected empty lemonade bottles from Clapton streets to redeem penny deposits.
The Apprentice star, 62, will be known in Parliament as simply Lord Sugar, as the full geographical title is only used for peers where two people have the same surname.
Sir Alan was awarded his peerage when Gordon Brown named him as the Government's enterprise czar last month.
Meanwhile, a poll revealed the Government faces a battle with peers over an elected upper chamber. Nearly two out of three support the status quo, said a ComRes survey in the Independent.

Well Tinkerbell I see a a green eyed monster lurking in your comment. Good for Alan I say ; He has shown what hard work can achieve from humble beginnings and as afar as money is concerned, what wrong with it if gained honestly which is has been?

Well, Mr Sugarman (his real name) has come a long way since his Hackney days. Clearly his money has nothing whatever to do with his latest venture.
