England’s victorious cricketers hit the town
Ben Bailey21 Jul 2009

It was not quite the post-Ashes bender of 2005, but England's victorious cricketers hit the town to celebrate their first Lord's win over Australia for 75 years.

While Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad and Paul Collingwood marked the win with dinner at Japanese restaurant Nobu in Berkeley Street.
Their celebrations came after Flintoff inspired England to a historic victory over Australia in the Ashes.
Flintoff blew apart the Australian lower-order batsmen as England claimed a first Test win over Australia at Lord's since 1934.

After he was named man of the match for taking five second innings wickets, Flintoff said: "You may be aching a little bit but when the crowd gets behind you, you can't stop."
His captain Andrew Strauss praised Flintoff's performance as "magnificent". Flintoff's heroics were watched at the ground by his wife Rachel and millions on television.
The City had virtually halted as traders tuned into the dramatic final overs.

I try to avoid Brits who have been celebrating too much.

Did you read the article. "cricketers hit the town to celebrate their first Lord's win over Australia for 75 years." Is that not enough.

"If you read political comments both in the Standard and the Mail, keith pops up"

To the people irritated by Keith Price's comments.
If you read political comments both in the Standard and the Mail, keith pops up quite regularly, always with a left wing ideaology and childish opinions.
Now he reveals himself as actually anti England.
Tell us the truth Keith. What exactly is your agenda?

Perhaps some readers would prefer them cooped up in their respective hotels all summer, get a grip, even sportsmen are allowed the odd night off.

THE ENGLAND CRICKET TEAM ARE LIVING GOD'S
HOW DARE ANYONE BESMIRCH THEIR NAME.
If Freddy Flintoff was in charge of the country we would not be in the mess we are in at the moment.
I WHOLE HEARTEDLY SUPPORT OUR TEAM GOING OUT ON THE LASH , SMOKING PLENTY OF FAGS AND STUFFING THEMSELVES FULL OF CURRY-IN THE OLD FASHIONED WAY.
Our team should all be given O.B.E's , the key to the city,£1 million pounds sterling a year for life, and first refusal on any bargain offered on EBAY.FREE BERR FOR ALL OUR LADS AND AS MUCH OF IT AS THEY CAN DRINK,AND FREE CURRY TO BOOT(BHAJIS NOT INCLUDED).
GOD BLESS THE BRAVE YOUNG BOYS OF OUR CRICKET TEAM
GOD BLESS THEM ONE AND ALL
AND LET THEM STRIKE A BLOW FOR ENGLISH CRICKET , QUEEN AND EMPIRE.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

Can you imagine media's (and the public's) response to the England football team 'hitting the town' after winning only their second match at the World Cup next year, and with another one taking place soon? You've got to admire these cricket lads' single-minded 'fitness is key' determination and dedication to their sport, haven't you?

"How do you work out they were humiliated in the First Test?"
have you forgotten so swiftly - George - that Australia scored more runs in one innings than England scored in two ? Don't you just detest the arrogance of the English, who cannot handle victory, because it happens to then so seldomly

Thats the problem with sport in our Country. Last time we won the ashes, from what I understand, the cricketers went on a 10 month bender. Its just one game. Why drop our guard. They should wait until we have won the whole thing before celebrating. Not go out on the lash because we have beaten the Aussies once. Ridiculous beahviour for professional sports men

Keith Price what have you been watching? I saw no humiliation in the first test, only an admirable comeback and Kevin Pietersen has hardly figured so far. Think you're watching something different to the rest of us!!

Keith, I'm not sure how getting a draw in the first test when Australia couldn't remove our tail is humiliating, or how we'll lose the third test without Pietersen given how little he contributed to the second.

Keith Price,
How do you work out they were humiliated in the First Test? From what I saw it was a draw, with Australia failing to bowl out the home side. Were you watching another Test?
