Estate agent goes green with bicycles
Neil Millard27 Jul 2009
An estate agent is considering a plan to ditch its cars for electric bicycles.
Winkworth, which has 56 offices and more than 225 agents in London, is testing Gocycles, which have rechargable electric motors.
Will Yule, director of Winkworth's Knightsbridge office, said the bikes were a "greener mobility alternative to operating a fleet of cars".
"On average, a Winkworth estate agent will make eight journeys by car each day and could spend many hours behind the wheel," he added.
The bikes cost about £1,200 and are designed and built in the UK by Karbon Kinetics Limited.

A tandem would be handy for cyclists that are new to London traffic.

"The bikes cost about £1,200". You can get a proper bike for a fraction of the cost of these electric mopeds that take three hours to charge up and only go 20 miles or so.
