Alex’s own goal - Liverpool ‘is too rough’
28 Jul 2009
The wife of Liverpool star Steven Gerrard has declared that she no longer likes going out in her native city because its nightspots are “rough”.
Alex Curran's comments came after she and the England star enjoyed the more refined surroundings of London's Nobu Berkeley restaurant, where they were pictured leaving, above.
They also follow the Liverpool captain, 29, being cleared of affray after he admitted punching a man in a Merseyside bar. Gerrard became involved in brawl over access to a CD player and insisted that he acted in self-defence.
Ms Curran appeared oblivious to the irony of the contrast with the court case when she told New! magazine she thought Liverpool's clubs and bars “attract the wrong type of people”.
In her interview, Ms Curran said of Liverpool: “It's not the same any more. To be honest, it's rough. Everywhere new that opens attracts the wrong type of people. It's not nice, so I haven't bothered to go out.”
Ms Curran, a former nail technician turned model and fashion columnist, has been described as the “uber-Wag”. Three years ago, she was arrested over accusations of assault during an altercation at a restaurant in Liverpool. Charges were dropped.

She is well out of order,I am a Londoner with friends in Liverpool,I have been visiting the city since the early 80s and find the city to be friendly and welcoming.I have been in pubs on my own and been made to feel welcome by locals, something that I have rarely experienced in other British cities.Miss Curran should remember where she came from and not forget her Liverpool roots,by distancing herself from her own kind she is making trouble for herself, by making comments that put the city of Liverpool down she can only expect to be made unwelcome.

Crikey, give him the remote control quick, before he beats the crap out of you and gets a standing ovation from the scum, sorry, people of Liverpool.
Didn't his missus go out with a scallywag before gerrard?

Mind, she is right...notwithstanding that she and hubby are the wrong type.

Oh the irony of it all, you couldn't make it up, and she used to go out with a gangster before gerrard.
You couldn't make it up.
