Berlusconi escort girl 'tried to run him and wife off the road'

An escort linked to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi once tried to kill him, her former lover said today.
Patrizia D'Addario, 42, spent the night with Mr Berlusconi, 72, at his Rome residence following a party.
Today, her former lover Giuseppe Barba, 47, told how Ms D'Addario had tried to run Mr Berlusconi and his wife, Veronica Lario, off the road in her car while the couple were on a Vespa.
This week Mr Barba's wife, Bernardina Murgolo, gave an interview in which she claimed Ms D'Addario was a blackmailer who had recorded Mr Berlusconi's conversations to weaken him.
She said: "She tried to blackmail my husband with a tape recorder and now she is trying to blackmail Berlusconi. She used the same tactic with my husband and now she is using it on Berlusconi - she claims she is frightened and that's why she carries a tape recorder, but it's all about blackmail."
Mr Berlusconi claims the sleaze allegations have been concocted by his political rivals to force him from power.
