China puts plague town in quarantine
Ben Bailey3 Aug 2009
TWO people have died of pneumonic plague in a remote part of western China. The town of Ziketan, which has a population of 10,000, has been closed off in an attempt to prevent it spreading and a team of experts has been called in.
Another 10 people have contracted the disease in the region mainly populated by ethnic Tibetans. Pneumonic plague is airborne and spreads easily.
