Gordon Ramsay hit by nightmare in New York

Gordon Ramsay's flagship venture in New York is fast becoming a kitchen nightmare of its own.

The five-star restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at the London Hotel, is being pursued by creditors.

It has also been hit by complaints from customers about service and the quality of the expensive food.

The restaurant's former bar boss, Jeffrey Giordano, has alleged that he poured cheap spirits into brand-name bottles to save money and mixed the dregs of different bottles of wine. Ramsay denies his claims.

A spokesman said: "We have had cash flow issues but many of our outstanding creditors have now been paid."

well bleeping hell, who'd have thought it of such a mild mannered bloke. it only goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover, no matter how torn and tatty it appears.

Cd, your latter comment is really the best description of the situation: too many pots on the boil. Happens to a lot of "personality driven" businesses. The personality - here its Ramsay - can only do so much at one time.

If you lend your name to so many ventures you can't possibly have control over every detail. I ate at this resteraunt 2yrs ago and it was great. I just hope that all this leads to more reasonably priced, good food.

i'm tempted to say that this is karma but i really think ramsay cares about food. it's embarrassing that it's his flagship restaurant but i guess it's the kind of thing that happens when you've got too many pots on the boil. if you forgive the pun...
