A 16-year-old boy will appear in court today after he was charged in connection with a bleach attack on a woman who asked a group of youths to be quiet in a cinema.

The 46-year-old woman was attacked in a restaurant in Leeds after an incident at a screening of a Harry Potter film in the city on Sunday, July 26.

West Yorkshire Police said the youth was charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and will appear before magistrates in the city later.

Officers said the youth was arrested on Saturday along with another teenager who has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Last week, the victim of the attack told how youths threw bleach into her face and left her with damage to her sight.

She was attacked at a Frankie & Benny's restaurant in Kirkstall Road, Leeds, in front of her husband and two children after she asked the group of five or six teenagers to stop making a noise during the new Harry Potter film.

Police described the attack as "particularly vicious" and "pre-meditated".

The woman confronted the group when they began talking loudly and texting during a screening of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince at the Vue cinema.

She told police that two of the youths later entered the restaurant and one threw the bleach over her head and back.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to burns to her skin and was later released but is still being assessed to discover if her eyes have been permanently damaged.
