Tory defence spokesman Liam Fox was today tipped as a potential future leader of the party and prime minister by a shadow cabinet colleague.
Michael Gove, the Conservative education spokesman, singled him out, saying: "I have high regard for him. There is no reason why he could not be leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister."
Right-winger Mr Fox stood for the leadership in 2005 but crashed out to the David Cameron bandwagon.
Mr Gove, who ruled himself out as a future leader, also heaped praise on another Right-winger, David Davis. Hinting at a come-back for the former shadow home secretary he declared: "I love David Davis. I'm a huge fan.
"It is vitally important that we go out of our way as a party to make sure we use all the talents."

A tad premature perhaps? Shall we get rid of the present incompetents first please?
