Key ingredients for a dream holiday

Peace and quiet are the main requirements of a dream holiday, according to a poll today.

Tranquility was the leading factor for those questioned by American Express Travellers Cheques about the best ingredient for a paradise break.

Those surveyed also stressed the importance of beautiful beaches, a remote island and not being near other tourists.

Having friends and family with them was another important part of a dream holiday, while around 28% regarded adventure activities as a vital ingredient.

Only 17% reckoned good nightlife was key to an ideal holiday, while only 13% felt having no internet or phone reception was important.

Another survey by online recruitment service TheLadders.co.uk showed that more than three in five company bosses have changed their holiday plans for this summer.

Of these, more than half (53%) have cut back on the amount spent on a break, while 24% are skipping a summer holiday altogether.

A total of 27% of the 500 bosses polled are holidaying in the UK, while 18% are opting for camping or caravan breaks.
